Getting ready for flight SQ282 to Singapore

It wasn’t until we got to the hotel in Auckland that Dad discovered our stowaway bear Pumpkin. I knew he wouldn’t be impressed, and he wasn’t. He made us stay at the hotel the whole day while he went out. Oh well, it wasn’t so bad, really. We had plenty of food and used the time to catch up on sleep :-)

Then came Friday night, the night we were going to fly to Singapore. We got a bus to the airport and it was pouring with rain. Dad had already checked in via the internet, so it was just a matter of taking the luggage to the Singapore Airlines bag drop off counter. We cleared customs and security fairly quickly. Now the wait for boarding and departure began.

Oh, by the way, did I tell you that Pumpkin, Benjamin and I made a couple of new friends in Auckland?

Meet our new friends: Chalky (left) and Bertram (right).

Chalky is very cute and has a blue nose just like me :-) Bertram is lovely and gentle, a real gentlebear!

There were meant to be just two of us on this trip: Benjamin and me. Two became three when we secretly took Pumpkin along, and now there are five of us! Isn’t that funny? :-D

This is our plane, a Boeing 777–200, being loaded with yummy food; phew, we won’t go hungry :-)

Flight SQ282: “Boarding in 15 mins”. Well, this never happened! After midnight the same message was still showing. Was the board broken? We had no idea what was wrong and started to get hungry. No announcement was ever made about the reason for the delay. Luckily Dad had an emergency food ration in his hand luggage :-)

We happened to overhear a conversation by staff; from what we could gather, there was a technical problem that needed to be sorted out before we could hit the skies.

Then the boarding call. At long last some action! Pushback at 0:44 am and takeoff at 0:56 am.

Finally we were on our way to Singapore!

Great to hear from you guys. Wow! how the family is growing, your daddy takes really good snapshots, you really are a very good looking bunch of fun. Tell Dad, many of the ladies were asking after him at BobyVive yesterday (Monday). Carla took the class, good, but not as professional as Dad’s partner Marc. Jean has been asking each day, how dad is, and says Hello. We’ve had some rain this evening, and told to expect more tomorrow. Very grey and overcast, with flecks of sun most of today. It was 7 degree tonight when I came home from work. One of the lovely ladies I had been caring for died, just as I was leaving last night, she woould have been 99 in a couple of months, She died very peacefully in her sleep. Her bname was Helen ‘ll miss her however know her beautiful soul will be watching over us all…always.
It’s time I went to sleep so will say good night & have a wonderful holiday…

Thank you, Ian! Sorry to hear about your patient Helen passing away.

We too have had a lot of rain today accompanied by heavy thunderstorms, hail and wind gusts up to 100 km/h. We’ve been lucky though, and remained unharmed :-)

Dad’s made a lot of progress setting up the new computer. It has heaps more power which will make photo editing for my posts a lot speedier. I shall try it out soon…

Great to hear from you George. How are your friends? hope they have not been too scared with all the rain & thunderstorms etc… Can you ask your Dad if he has time, how easy has it been to speed up your picture editing etc? as I’d like you to help me, only if you’ll have time when you come home.

Also, I’m hoping Dad, may have time to finish editing my family photos before the 5th of November. As I’ve heard today, my only sister and her husband are moving to Perth the w/e of the 14/15 November and another brother and wife, are returning to Rarotonga the same weekend, so thought maybe it would be a good idea to give them their copies of the photos in person, cause I have a feeling it may be a long time, if ever, before we get together again.

I’m missing you guys big time, it was good to have Marc back at the gym today, he’s looking well, however, I think as busy as ever…

Tell Dad, it’s John Kings 75th birthday next Wednesday… and thanks for making time to keep in touch big guy, 5 hear Chalky (hope I’ve spelt it correct) is kinda real kute!!!

by 4 now, time I went to bed, if I’m gonna make the 9.15am class

Hi Ian, we haven’t had any more thunderstorms—phew! In other parts of the country the recent storms caused 30 million dollars worth of damages, mainly as a result of hail.

I’ve told Dad to get a move on with your family photos. He said, he would see what he can do.

Yes, Chalky is my new blue nose friend. He’s a polar bear with a cuddly nature :-)

          Time for bed…zzz…
