Who would have thought that something called Luxemburgerli is some delicious Swiss confectionery? Well, not me, anyway.
After our guided tour around Zürich Airport, we delved into the belly of the airport building, down escalators to a large shopping area.

On the approach to Zürich Airport's shopping area

Mid level with shops & food hall, lower level with check-in counters for passengers who arrive by train (the railway station is further below).

There, on the shopping floor, right next to one of Switzerland's biggest supermarket chains…

…we discovered Confiserie Sprüngli—let's go in!

Gee, sooo many yummy things—where shall we start?!

Hmmh… and what are these??
Luxemburgerli—I have never tasted anything like it before! They are small, light & fluffy cakes with a soft, yet slightly dense but pleasant texture. In they’re middle is a creamy filling that comes in a variety of flavours, from traditional ones like vanilla and chocolate, to the more exotic ones such as mandarin and champagne.
Luxemburgerlies just melt in your mouth and slowly release their distinct yet delightful flavours—yum!!
Made fresh every day, the box they’re in comes with a sticker that says “consume as soon as possible”—for once we did as we were told:

Luxemburgerli & espresso—Pumpkin devours his umpteenth Luxemburgerli (a mint flavoured one) while George has another Champagne one…
